Łukasz Kacprzyński - 4 September, 2024 - 09:55

Interested students can submit their application to anna.sledzinska-simonatuwr.edu.pl, including proof of proficiency in English and an expression of interest in the course topics. Enrollment in the course is possible starting in September. Classes are held online on Thursdays from 5 PM to 7 PM (during the winter semester).

Description: The Comparative Equality Law course uses a comparative law approach to examine the interaction between equality and society, how equality law protects equality rights in various jurisdictions, and how to address inequality. The course will compare legal systems in the US, Europe, and other national, regional, and international contexts (including India, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, and South Africa) and provide a global overview of legal protections and responses to inequalities.

The course covers three main themes:

1.Equality in theory (theories, concepts, ideas)
2.Equality in law (rules, legal systems, case law)
3.Equality in society (law in practice, social movements, activism)

Teachers and Students: The course is organized and led by David Oppenheimer (UC Berkeley), Panos Kapotas (University of Portsmouth, UK), and Laura Carlson (Stockholm University). It will include students from approximately 12 universities and about 10 additional faculty lecturers worldwide. Our faculty speakers come from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Peru, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Sweden, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
