Recruitment for the EDELNet LL.B. Constitutional Law Summer School 2022

dr Michał Stępień - 25 Marzec, 2022 - 05:56

We are pleased to open the recruitment to the EDELNet LLB Constitutional Law Summer School Programme which is going to take place in Bonn (Germany) from 11 to 15 July. 2022. Party to the EDELNet Partnership with the FernUniversität Hagen (Germany), the Open Universiteit (the Netherlands), UNED (Spain), the Open University (UK), the University of Wrocław may nominate 6 students to participate in the Summer School. Cost of accommodation are covered by Wrocław University and FernUniversität Hagen. Students will be provided with a stay in Youth hostel Bonn (https://www.jugendherberge.de/en/youth-hostels/bonn-438/portrait/). Overall number of participants is supposed to be between 30 and 40.

The programme begins with an online preparatory phase in late April during which participants are expected to work through some basic reading with the support of online lectures and Q&A sessions. Structured around the professional processing of hypothetical case simulations, the second face-to-face part of the programme begins on 11 July in Bonn. During this phase students will be assigned to a cross-national group that assumes the role of a legal/political actor involved in the simulation problem (political party in the parliament, advocacy group, etc.). Through their participation in these groups, students are expected to get acquainted with a set of legal professional tasks that will help them become aware of the intricacies of the real operation of the law in practice and learn how to argue using the language of the law in different legal contexts. In the course of the programme students will receive structured and intensive training not only in legal matters, but also in soft skills such as academic debate, legal English and team work.

Applicants are supposed to:
- be students of 1st, 2nd, 3rd or higher year of legal studies at the University of Wrocław,
- speak English at least B1 level,
- and be able to discuss in that language key issues of constitutional law.

Recruitment will be carried out on 31th of March at 17.00 via MS Teams. All queries on the Summer School will be addressed by Dr. Michał Stępień (michal.stepienatuwr.edu.pl).

Please join on your own to the MS Team if you are going to participate in recruitment.
