Działalność naukowa: 

Dr hab. Karolina Kremens LL.M. od września 2021 roku kierowniczka Inkubatora Doskonałości Naukowej - Digital Justice na Wydziale Prawa, Administracji i Ekonomii Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego, zajmującego się wpływem nowych technologii na proces karny i finansowanego ze środków Inicjatywy Doskonałości - Uczelni Badawczej. W latach 2012-2021 adiunktka w Katedrze Postępowania Karnego. W 2004 r. uzyskała tytuł magistra prawa na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim, w 2007 r. tytuł Master in Laws (LL.M.) na Uniwersytecie w Ottawie (Kanada), a w 2008 r. tytuł doktora prawa na Uniwersytecie Wrocławskim. Ukończyła aplikację prokuratorską w 2008 roku i w latach 2009-2012 pracowała na stanowisku asesora w Prokuraturze Rejonowej dla Wrocławia - Krzyki Zachód. Od 2011 roku wpisana na listę adwokatów. Jest powoływana także przez sądy i prokuratury jako biegła z zakresu amerykańskiego prawa i procesu karnego. W okresie 2020-2022 pełniła funkcję Pełnomocniczki Rektora UWr ds bezpieczeństwa studentów i doktorantów.

Dr Kremens jest stypendystką Fulbrighta 2016-2017 (University of Connecticut Law School, USA), stypendium Edwarda Barry'ego McDougalla 2006-2007 (University of Ottawa, Kanada) oraz stypendium rządowego Vlamssee (Belgia) w latach 2013 i 2014. Wykładała na Uniwersytecie Aberystwyth, UK (2013), University of Exeter, UK (2014), University of Toledo, Hiszpania (2016), University of Bologna, Włochy (2017, 2018) oraz University of Valencia, Hiszpania (2019). Prowadzi również regularnie zajęcia z przedmiotu Comparative Criminal Procedure na Wydziale Prawa Uniwersytetu w Ottawie (2014, 2016, 2018 i 2020 roku).

Jest kierowniczką i uczestniczką wielu krajowych i międzynarodowych projektów badawczych. Obecnie kieruje zespołem badawczym w grancie dotyczącym uzasadnionych przeszukań (NCN-Sonata bis). Kierowała również polskim zespołem badawczym w projekcie "Knowledge, Advisory and Capacity Building Information Tool for Criminal Procedural Rights in Judicial Cooperation" (CROSSJUSTICE) finansowanym przez Komisję Europejską (Program Justice 2018). 

Zainteresowania badawcze dr Kremens koncentrują się głównie na porównawczym i międzynarodowym postępowaniu karnym, organizacji i funkcjonowaniu prokuratury, roli płci w procesie karnym oraz wpływu nowych technologii na postępowanie karne.

W wolnym czasie dr Kremens podróżuje i biega. Jej mąż Adam jest nauczycielem wychowania fizycznego w ośrodku resocjalizacyjnym dla młodzieży i Ironmanem. Mają dwoje dzieci: Karolinę Junior i Adama Juniora.

Karolina Kremens, LL.M., Ph.D., habilitation since September 2021 is the Head of the Academic Excellence Hub - Digital Justice established at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics (University of Wrocław, Poland) focusing on the influence of new technologies on criminal justice. The Digital Justice Center is financed by the Research University - Excellence Initiative. Previously (2012-2021) she worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Criminal Procedure. She received her Magister in Law degree from the University of Wrocław in 2004, Master in Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa (Canada) in 2007 and Ph.D. in Law from the University of Wrocław in 2008. She served as an Assistant Prosecutor at the District Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław (2009-2012).
Dr Kremens was accepted to the Bar in 2011. She has been also appointed on numerous occassions by courts and prosecutor's offices in Poland as an expert witness on the issues regarding US criminal law and procedure.

Dr Kremens is the recipient of the 2016-2017 Fulbright Scholarship (University of Connecticut Law School, USA), 2006-2007 Edward Barry McDougall Scholarship (University of Ottawa, Canada) and 2013 and 2014 Vlamssee Government Scholarship (Belgium). She lectured at the Aberystwyth University, UK (2013), University of Exeter, UK (2014), University of Toledo, Spain (2016), University of Bologna, Italy (2017, 2018) and University of Valencia, Spain (2019). She also teaches regularly Comparative Criminal Procedure at the University of Ottawa (2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020) as the McDougall Visiting Professor.

She led and participated in many national and international research projects. Currently she leads a project entitled “Reasonable Search - Between Effective Investigation and Rights of Individual” funded by the Polish National Science Center. She also led the Polish team in a grant project “Knowledge, Advisory and Capacity Building Information Tool for Criminal Procedural Rights in Judicial Cooperation” (CROSSJUSTICE) funded by the European Commission (Justice Programme 2018). 

Her research focuses mainly on comparative and international criminal procedure, the organization of the prosecution systems, the role of gender in criminal process and the influence of new technologies on criminal justice systems.

In her free time she runs and travels with her Family. Her husband Adam is a physical education teacher in a correctional school for juveniles and an Ironman. They have two children: Karolina Junior and Adam Junior.
